Jiří Jedlička

Jiří Jedlička (born February 5, 1987 in Pardubice) is a Czech swimmer, who specialized in breaststroke events. He is a member of the swimming team for SC Plavecky Areal Pardubice, and is coached and trained by Jaroslav Strnad.
Jedlicka qualified for two swimming events at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing by breaking a Czech record and clearing a FINA B-standard entry time of 1:01.46 from the European Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands. In his first event, 100 m breaststroke, Jedlicka challenged seven other swimmers on the sixth heat, including Slovenian swimmers Damir Dugonjič and Matjaž Markič. He came only in fifth place and twenty-ninth overall by eleven hundredths of a second (0.11) behind Canada's Mathieu Bois, with a time of 1:01.56. Three days later, Jedlicka finished fourth on the third heat of the 200 m breaststroke, with a time of 2:15.79, a quarter of a second (0.25) ahead of Greece's Romanos Alyfantis. Jedlicka failed to qualify for the semifinals, as he placed thirty-ninth overall in the preliminaries.
